My name is Terry Meehan, and I am a Target Science teacher at Mabry Middle School, in Marietta, GA. I have a BS degree from Louisiana State University, and I started teaching high school in New Orleans, LA, in 1979. When I moved to Georgia in 1987 I took a position as an eighth grade science teacher at Mabry, and I have been teaching there ever since that time. Four years ago I heard that Cobb County was going to offer pull-out science classes for gifted students. So, I decided to take the classes necessary to get certified in gifted education in June of 1997. Then it was decided that the 1997-1998 school year would be the first year that Mabry would offer gifted science classes at the eighth grade level, so I stepped right into the position. In the 2000 - 2001 school year I find myself teaching 7th Grade Life Science and 8th Grade Earth Science through the Target Program. This will be my third year with 7th grade and a welcome back to 8th grade.
I like to run to keep healthy. My favorite hobbies are singing with my church choir and reading. I like spending my time at soccer games, since my youngest son plays soccer. You can also find me in the band boosters' section (with other proud parents) as my older son plays and helps lead the section of sousaphones and my youngest son joins in playing trumpet with the Lassiter marching band.
